Innovation and Creative Problem-Solving

There is no greater buzzword in business today than innovation. But it is far more than a buzzword. It’s a battle cry as organizations fight in a fiercely competitive marketplace.

Innovation training is vital to expanding thinking that leads to breakthroughs in the creative problem-solving process. In New Realities training participants tackle problems they are actually facing in their workplace.

The Innovation workshop will give you a different way of looking at and solving problems,” says Beth Duffy, Product Underwriting Staff Consultant for Allied Insurance. “You will get some value out of it, no matter what business you’re in or who you work for. It is engaging, upbeat, enthusiastic, fun, a good mix of information and hands-on.”

Because of this personalized approach, no two training sessions with Michele are exactly alike. The specific problems, ideas, and observations of the participants often guide the discussion in ways that are most beneficial for that particular group.

“Training with Michele is exciting and insightful,” comments Robert Gatewood, Director, and member of Nationwide Insurance’s Strategy and Administration team. “Be ready to buckle up and step outside the box. She’ll surprise you, and you’ll learn more about yourself and how innovative you really are.”

New Realities workshops incorporate “the synectics approach.” The word “synectics” is derived from the Greek word “synecticos,” meaning the joining together or connecting of unrelated elements. Synectics is an inventive thinking technique that uses analogies and metaphors to help analyze problems, gain new insights, and reach solutions. One example of connecting seemingly unrelated elements is the invention of Velcro, which was inspired by seeing burs stuck on a pant leg. Participants gain skills in using four different operational mechanisms: direct, personal, symbolic, and fantasy analogies. These mechanisms expand thinking, leading to innovation.

“The presentation Michele gave was very energetic — she shows great passion in her material which helps you to open up to and grasp her insights,” comments Becky Vogt, Veridian Credit Union.

Research tells us that understanding and applying the process of innovation can lead to more paradigm shifts and “breakthroughs.”  New Realities’ thought-provoking, dynamic innovation/creative problem-solving training will not only enhance employees’ awareness of the many aspects of innovation, but will inspire them to work together to create a culture at your organization where innovation can thrive.
